With nearly two decades of big firm experience, TK Law has the skills, tools, and network needed to meet your everyday legal needs but with the attention to those needs that a small firm is better equipped to provide. With so much uncertainty in this world, clients do not need to worry if they can reach their lawyer directly when their legal needs arise.
Managing member Travis Knobbe is a first-generation lawyer, raised by a military-trained nurse as a mother and a second-generation steel mill worker as a father. They instilled a blue-collar work ethic that helps him understand and appreciate that nothing should be taken for granted. Our firm's resolve is to meet whatever needs our clients have. In doing so, our commitment is that when you need Your Everyday Lawyer, you can reach Your Everyday Lawyer.
For better or worse, the law intersects with nearly every portion of our daily lives. If we do business with someone else, chances are we've formed some sort of contract with them. If we get into a car or enter a business or let someone else enter our business, we have taken on at least some duties to those around us. If we put words out on a website or social media post, we have taken responsibility for the content of those words. If we hold a job, we have agreed to do certain things, and our employers have agreed to provide a certain type of environment, depending on the size and nature of the business. And simply by being born in the United States, we were also afforded certain rights and privileges that should be preserved and protected.
Travis Knobbe's legal experience has touched all of these aspects of our lives (and more). In a world that increasingly demands highly concentrated expertise in a single area, Travis is a true generalist. That experience draws heavily from a civil and business litigation background that includes employee rights, civil rights, construction disputes, business management and ownership disputes, disputes over rights in estates, defamation, contract disputes, fraud, debt collection, bankruptcy issues, and everything in between. He has also pursued and defended personal injury suits and dealt with landlord-tenant disputes, both for residential leases and commercial leases.
One thing Travis has learned is that most lawsuits could either have been avoided or resolved earlier if the parties came to an attorney sooner. Certainly, there are still times when a lawsuit is the only option. If someone is committing fraud against you, for example, you have little control. But in almost every situation, an early conversation with a lawyer presents you with greater control and more options.
Of course, we get it. When we are going through our daily lives, we don't often consider the question: what could go wrong? We also do not want the added expense of a lawyer. For example, nobody (we hope) enters into a new business with others or enters into a contract with others with the expectation that the new relationship will sour. As a result, very few of us read the basic terms of a contract or business agreement when we are excited to advance our interests or goals. All too often, Travis gets a call after a client has been sued or after a client has little choice but to sue someone. Lawsuits are expensive. The longer they go on, the more expensive they become.
Based on his blue-collar background, Travis understands just as you do the value of money and what it takes to earn it. While comfortable in a courtroom, he often laments that a dispute went that far. Based on this experience, TK Law encourages clients, friends, and potential clients to reach out before entering that contract, before starting that new business, or before clicking publish on that social media post. While that call comes with a cost, we are certain it pales in comparison to the expenses you might face if you wait to call until things go wrong.
